New Reports on Municipal Water Supply
USFA, in a joint project with the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, announces the release of two reports resulting from a study of municipal water supply systems and effective fire protection: Water Supply Systems Concepts and Water Supply System Evaluation Methods.


USFA Commemorates Fire Prevention Week
National Fire Prevention Week will be commemorated this year from October 5-11. The theme for 2008 is Prevent Home Fires


Responding to Ethanol Incidents
USFA announces the availability of a CD-ROM training package for Responding to Ethanol Incidents. A cooperative effort between USFA and the International Association of Fire Chiefs, with assistance from the Ethanol Emergency Response Coalition, this training addresses the needs of emergency responders when faced with incidents involving ethanol and ethanol-blended fuels.


During and After a Disaster: Portable Generator Hazards
Portable generators are useful when temporary or remote electric power is needed, but they can be hazardous. The primary hazards to avoid when using them are carbon monoxide poisoning, electric shock or electrocution, and fire.
